Morning Commute

On Monday and Tuesday I worked from home. Monday I was going to ride to work. I don't know what prompted me to work from home instead, but I did. Yesterday, I just totally overslept. I hadn't set the alarm and didn't wake up until after 8. Based on the time constraint, the only way I could make yesterday productive was to work from home. I did mange to get a lot done....

This morning, I was up and out of bed right at 5. I resisted the urge to hit the snooze and take another 7 minutes to rest.

I had cleaned up and tuned up the Quickbeam on Sunday so it was all set to go in the garage. Anika went grocery shopping yesterday and I had a load of food to bring in to restock my food cache here at work. So, I packed up the bike: three bags of granola, a big tub of yogurt, a jar of peanut butter, a jar of honey, and a loaf of bread. Add in my normal commuting gear (tools, tube, raingear, extra dry clothes) and my clothes for work and the bike was full.

It was an absolutely beautiful morning for a ride. Not sure if it was the fact that I hadn't ridden in a couple of days or what? It had rained last night and the air was heavy. There was quite a bit of fog.... and it was relatively warm. Single layer of wool and I was comfortable. I took the camera with, but have no way of getting pictures off here at work, so I may have to add a few tonight... maybe it'll be a different post.

I don't know if it's the fact that May is National Bike Month, the $3.09 a gallon, the fact that it is nice outside, or what... but I sure saw a lot more people commuting to work today! Yeah... celebrate.

Hi--

I noticed the same thing--more people commuting, I mean, not a heavily-laden Quickbeam beneath me... I'll be volunteering at a bike-to-work-week rest stop tomorrow, and I hope to see lots of people out there.
