Finally Friday

3 degrees, west-northwest wind at 15mph. My direction of travel... West of course. At conservative 10PMH of travel, that figures out to be a wind-chill of -20. National Weather Service Wind Chill.

It took me almost 1 1/2 hours to get to work today. When I arrived, the liners of my gloves were frozen to the outer mitten shells. I had icicles on my eyelashes, my balaclava was frozen to my eyebrows, and I had a giant icicle hanging from the "chin-part" of my balaclava.

I left the house with my normal cup of hot coffee in my Nissan insulated cup. Because it was so chilly, I didn't have a chance to really lower my balaclava and drink any. When I finally parked my bike, I went to take a sip of coffee, the lid was frozen shut. I knocked it open, but the top of the coffee had frozen too.

Gotta love Minnesota!

I love the frozen drinks. I put hot water in my poor mans insulated water bottle and it is frozen by mile 6 of my 10 mile commute. It took me 45 minutes to get here facing the NW winds also.
