Monday Commute

I loaded up the Felt DA in the Cayenne and prepared for the ride into work. Stopped by Starbucks to pick up a latte to warm up. I should have started the truck and let it run longer this morning so that the seat heaters had time to warm up. Got a jump on the day by checking all of my voice mail and responding to a few emails on the way to the trailhead where I parked the truck.

It was cold this morning so I was glad I was wearing my Assos fuguJack Jacket and the rest of my matching Assos getup. I wore the red one this morning since my black one was soiled. I had to tuck my hat and balaclava under my aero helmet and I hit the road. It was cold this morning, but as I tucked into my aero position, I felt like I was cheating the wind. After spending all weekend inside at spinning class, it felt good to be outside despite the cold.

I've taken to shipping my clothing back and forth to work so that I don't have to be encumbered by the weight of carrying a bag full of goods. With the cold, I was glad that I had put on the big heavy-duty 25mm tires for the extra durability. I’m sure that they slow me down significantly, but I had some concerns about my CO2 cartridges working in the event that I had a puncture. My HID light burned a hole in the night as I burned up the road setting a new personal record for time.

…naw… Not really, but what IF your average triathlete commuted to work? I think that would be funny.

This was the thought that entertained me this morning on the way to work this morning. It was COLD and with the wind out of the Northwest, a slow commute. When I left, my thermometer read 8 degrees. “Not bad” I thought as I prepared for my departure.

When I got to work and turned on the radio, I understood a little more why I felt just so uncomfortably cold. 2 degrees at the airport, -20 below wind chill. Oooohhhhh, that helped me when I was able to match that up with my experience. Amazing what a few degrees and the wind can do to affect comfort.

I admire people like Doug and others who step up to the line for the Arrowhead 135. I thought about that briefly this morning and once again came to the conclusion that that’s just insane! Yup, insane

Excellent as always. I had to do several double takes before i realised i was on the right site! Keep up the good work, it's one of the things that motivates me to get up and ride when it's pouring with rain here in sunny Manchester (UK).

Nice. I was concerned for a moment and thought I had to book a flight to Min. for a little exchange of ideas. I love it.
