Reality Strikes

Yesterday it was nearly 40 degrees for my ride home. This morning it was 8 degrees, west/northwest winds at 20-25mph and gusts surpassing 30 according to the national weather service when I turned on the radio this morning at work.

The temp now stands at:

Mostly Cloudy and Breezy 1°F (-17°C)
Wind Speed: NW 22 G 32 MPH
Wind Chill: -21°F (-29°C)

The forecast for this afternoon

This Afternoon: Patchy blowing snow and a chance of snow, mainly before 3pm. Cloudy, with a high near 9. Wind chill values between -24 and -29. Blustery, with a west northwest wind around 29 mph, with gusts as high as 37 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a low around -15. Wind chill values between -27 and -34. Blustery, with a west northwest wind between 14 and 23 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph.

Wednesday: Partly sunny and cold, with a high near 3. Wind chill values between -19 and -29. North northwest wind between 5 and 10 mph.

With days like yesterday, I am NOT going to get tricked into thinking that nice weather is just around the corner. Nope, as much as I really enjoyed yesterday, I know that days like today and tomorrow are here as a reminder of what it's like to live in MN.

Reminded by Paul that TransIowa is only 13 weeks away. And when I am feeling tough, all I have to do is remind myself that there are others out there who are really tough:

-Doug or the article about Pierre who is a hoot.
